Most anything goes! I love reading from all kinds of genres including fiction, non-fiction, history, poetry, fantasy, sci-fi, and yes, even erotica. I don’t think any indie author should be barred based on the genre they write in. However, there are a few things that might not pass inspection. Here’s what they are:
Now, I love horror like any horror fan would, but the amount of violence involved (especially in regards to sexual violence) does have a limit. If it doesn’t drive the plot forward and it’s simply inserted for shock value, there’s a chance your book won’t be featured. My own books contain violent and (to some) graphic scenes, but those are mainly reserved for battles and things that happen during the plot. In a nutshell, make it count.
If your story, in any way, supports sexual assault or contains rape scenes as a kink in erotica, then this book club probably isn’t the best fit for your book. If your story contains this type of assault as something that drives the plot forward, then it can be considered. However, the scene should not be overtly explicit in nature. These types of situations will be at my discretion.
Racist or Discriminatory
I understand books that contain characters that start out being this way, but there has to be a redemption arc here (think Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter.) I don’t condone hate speech in any form, and I don’t think my readers would like it either.
As for the guideline of how to submit your book for a feature, here’s a simple outline. You can use this in the contact form on my website.
- Author Name
- Book Title
- Book Genre (up to 3 types)
- Book Summary (the blurb on the back cover)
- Book Link
- Reviews (up to 3 reviews from others talking about your work)
- Author Bio
- Trigger Warnings (if applicable)
If your story contains a trigger warning, I may ask for further information about it. So, you can go ahead and give me a little detail on this part if necessary.
As always, happy writing!
