With the holidays right around the corner, I want to hear your stories! For November and December, I’ll be featuring short stories submitted by new and seasoned authors to be featured on my Author Podcast Show. This is my way of showing support to indie authors and the work they put into their craft. Keep reading for more information on how to submit your story!
All submissions should be holiday themed! With that being said, don’t be afraid to go all out and make your story truly unique. While the main holidays in November and December are Thanksgiving and Christmas in the U.S., that doesn’t mean there aren’t others also celebrated during these months. Any holiday around this time period goes (and that includes myths and legends associated with those holidays)!
All genres are accepted except for poetry. You may be scratching your head wondering how horror could play into this. Think something along the lines of Krampus. I like to read a wide variety of books and that also includes stories on my podcast.
Each story must have a minimum of 2,000 words with a maximum of 6,000 words. This gives me enough content to work with and keeps the length of the podcast episode at a happy medium.
All entries must be submitted in English. If you have parts of your story written in a different language, please provide the translation. I’m not adept with foregin languages and I want to read your story on my podcast to the best of my ability.
Since it’s the holidays, please submit stories with limited profanity, sexual conduct, and violence. Not saying there can’t be any, but I try to keep it PG13 around here on the show.
Submissions may be unpublished or previously published works. If your story was previously published, you must own all the rights to your work and provide where it was published so that it can be credited.
Submissions begin on October 20th, 2021 through November 14th, 2021. The first podcast episode will air on November 19th, 2021!
All submissions are to be sent to my email at firstname.lastname@example.org as a word or PDF document. Please place in the subject line “SHORT HOLIDAY STORY” so I can easily identify your submission. Here’s what to place in the body of your email:
- Name or Pen Name
- Title of your work
- Short synopsis of your story (1 paragraph)
- Social media links
- Other works by you so I can promote you!
Word/PDF document format:
- 12 pt. font/Times New Roman
- 1″ margins
- Double Spaced
- Paragraph indentation of 0.5
- Pages must be numbered
- Title Page with Title, Name, and Word Count
Please edit your work before submitting as I’ll be reading these over my podcast for my fellow listeners. I can’t wait to read your stories! Happy writing!
